Bank fishing in the Midwest is a staple for many anglers. It allows us to avoid fighting the wind, it makes it easy to stop off after work and catch a few, and the truth is if you time it right... you can catch BRUISERS. Some of my biggest largemouth bass have been caught right from the bank, and while today was not a big-fish day, it was productive. The two presentations we tested are tried-and-true options for largemouth bass from the bank.

For only being the second week of April, this sunny afternoon was a comfortable 54°, matching the water temp. The bass are deeper still, chilly, and beautiful. This will change the next few weeks...

The Minimalist Fisherman: In the Field focuses on bass fishing tips and techniques that will help you catch more fish all throughout the Midwest. Everything we write about - we test.

If it's good - we keep it. If it's not - we minimize it!

The Minimalist Fisherman: In The Field (formerly Stars & Bars Fishing) is an in-the-field fishing vlog by AJ Hauser, who owns and operates The Minimalist Fisherman. The presentations we review and explain on the website (https://theminimalistfisherman.com) and on The Minimalist Fisherman YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/TheMinimalistFisherman) are put to use here.

"If I'm not catching fish with it - I'm not writing about it. Period."
