MZTV 1714: Was Paul Crazy?

Did the apostle Paul really wish to be cursed in exchange for God blessing the nation Israel? That's what he seems to be saying in Romans 9:3-- ..."for I myself wished to be anathema from Christ -- for my brethren, my relatives according to the flesh." But when we look more closely, this is not what Paul was saying at all. How could he possibly give away something—even for a noble cause—that had been predetermined before the disruption of the world?
