An Odd (Sort of) Military Story

If there is one thing we can all agree on, it’s that members of the military, our armed forces, deserve our honor, and respect.

It’s a no-brainer.

And yet, this is the true tale of a half-dozen shows I performed with a fellow comedian who happened to be former military.

Served overseas in a combat zone; honored his country, and came home and put himself through college.

Living the American dream.

Something to be proud of.

Lol, well, tell that to a comedy audience.

It’s not that they were all indifferent, they were just more hushed in their tones than they could have been.

Yet, at the same time, when little old stand-up comedian me mentioned I’d performed for American forces stationed far from home…

Applause.

The actual veteran would get a nod of acknowledgment, but the idiot comedian would get applause.

It has yet to make sense to me.
