China's Xi calls for Asian unity amid deteriorating US relations

China's President Xi Jinping called for Asian nations to unite in resisting geopolitical confrontation, unilateralism and protectionism on Wednesday (April 16), as he continued his Southeast Asian tour amid a sharp deterioration in China-U.S. relations. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said China's global initiative "offers a new lease on hope" and remains to be Malaysia's most significant trading partner.
