They are training to take over government
"You woke up this morning and you’re Muslim, and you’re breathing — you’re political. You have no other choice but to be political in this country.
Kira’s Mills programs are designed to truly empower participants like you — young Muslims, who are the future leaders of our communities, between the ages of 13 and 19 — to develop strong leadership skills by increasing self-awareness, engaging in team-building exercises, and learning more about how government works.
And one of the reasons we hold these programs in the center of our government, in the halls of power, is because we want you to understand that this is where you belong, right? As American Muslims, we’re not always told that we have a place in government — but this is where you belong.
So why did we create this organization, CAIR, which you already know and which invited you to this event today? Simply for you. It was created for you — to give you the opportunity to come into this building, to learn, to advocate for the issues you care about, but also so you can envision yourself one day working in this building."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is an organization founded in 1994 with the goal of promoting a positive image of Islam and defending the civil rights of Muslims in the United States. Through activities such as media outreach, education, legal advocacy, and political participation, CAIR seeks to empower the American Muslim community and encourage its active involvement in society.
However, CAIR has been the subject of controversy due to alleged ties to Hamas, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the United States. FBI documents presented during a 2008 federal trial indicated that CAIR originated from the Palestine Committee, a support network for Hamas created by the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2009, a federal judge stated that there was sufficient evidence to link CAIR to Hamas.
In 2023, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad sparked controversy when he expressed satisfaction over Hamas’s October 7 attacks in Israel, describing them as a breaking of the "siege" on Gaza. Although he later clarified that he did not support violence against civilians, his comments were widely criticized.
In summary, CAIR plays a prominent role in defending the civil rights of Muslims in the United States, but it faces criticism and concern over historical ties to Hamas and controversial statements made by some of its leaders.
