Russian Avangard Missile System

The Avangard missile system is one of the oldest and most powerful hypersonic projects produced in Russia. Its purpose differs from that of Oreshnik and the array of new hypersonics in development in that it is specifically built for the "deterrence" factor of major nuclear warhead delivery. This then is not a combat strike weapon, whereas the Oreshnik and its siblings are intended for mass strike coordination.
