ℹ️Decent family movie. Some parts feel a bit drawn out. Hip-hop music is featured throughout, and this if being noted because some parents may prefer their children not listen to or engage with this genre, although no cursing is present.

Plot:
Sneaks follows Ty (voiced by Anthony Mackie), a designer sneaker who lives a sheltered life in a velvet-lined shoebox, and his sister Maxine (Chloe Bailey), both Alchemy 24s (oddly called “A24s” in some scenes). The sneakers are won by Edson (Swae Lee), a teen basketball player, at a Sneakerhead Gala raffle, beating out The Collector (Laurence Fishburne), a shady sneakerhead who buys 200 tickets but loses. The Collector steals the sneakers from Edson, but Ty is separated during the theft, ending up on a power line, while Maxine is taken to The Collector’s high-tech lair.
Ty, initially vain and obsessed with staying pristine, ventures into New York City to rescue Maxine, guided by J.B. (Martin Lawrence), a worn-out sneaker who trades help for Ty’s jewel-like “bling.” They travel via the Borough Board Express, a hyper-speed skateboard steered by sneaker skaters Sky and Rayssa (voiced by Sky Brown and Rayssa Leal). Their journey spans Harlem, a park, and a fancy wedding, meeting diverse shoes like Adriana (Macy Gray), J.B.’s ex, a stiletto with attitude. Meanwhile, Maxine plots her escape from The Collector’s lair with other captive shoes. The story explores Ty’s growth from self-absorption to courage, emphasizing sibling love and teamwork, set against a vibrant NYC backdrop with a hip-hop-infused score.
