Resurrection Sunday 2025: The Empty Tomb and the First Ascension John 20:1-18

SBC Family,

As you receive this Jesus was still in the tomb. It was part of the second day. He would be raised sometime during the night on the third day. We celebrate this day because He rose from the dead on this day and lives forevermore. This is of great significance because death no longer has power. He has overcome it. Because we have believed in Him we too will overcome it by translation or resurrection. However, there is more to this day than the resurrection. There is the peculiar statement in John 20:17 to Mary Magdalene, “Stop clinging to Me.” This translation is misleading, and there is something more going on. When we get that straightened out we will see something marvelous that began on this day, what is called by all the Gospel writers NOT the third day, but the first day. I am excited to share with you this additional significant event that happened not on earth but in heaven on the first day. It was the beginning of something new…

See the attachment.

Love and blessings on this first day,
Jeremy
