Just like the woman at the well found out that Yeshua is the true water of life and those who come to HIM will never be without water, spiritual water, water = the Word of GOD, Yeshua, GOD again. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was GOD.
So far in Ch 6 the event, the miracle, the feeding of the 5000 (really many more). 5000 is a multiple of 50 and anytime you see 50 in Scripture there is a reference to be made to the Jubilee. In one way or another.
They were suggesting that the bread of Heaven needed to be given again and again (like the Manna). But Yeshua instead states that: He who comes to ME will never go hungry. So, the hungry and thirsty person who comes to Yeshua, who accepts and follows Yeshua finds his hunger satisfied and his thirst quenched. Spiritually speaking of course.
This does not mean there is no need for continued dependence upon HIM, for continued feeding upon HIM through HIS Word. In fact, it should increase our need and our desire to grow in HIS Grace and Knowledge.Yeshua explained that the one who comes to HIM, receives HIM, believes upon HIM, will find his ultimate spiritual hunger satisfied.
Everyone who sees the Son: “In this ‘gazes upon’ the Son there is certainly a reference to the bronze serpent that was lifted up by Moses in the wilderness upon a pole, everyone who looked on it was healed. The Israelites in the wilderness looked upon the serpent as they were commanded and were spared from the deadly bites. It was a foreshadowing to looking upon Yeshua. That is to see the Son, accept, believe in HIM Who GOD the Father sent.
Vs 39 certainly seems like a supporting verse for the answer to that question as being a solid NO! That is a believer cannot lose their salvation.
1 JOH 2:1, My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
If anyone reads that and says ah, that’s great, I can do those things I used to do and Yeshua will take care of it. I would seriously question whether that person is truly saved. That is likely one whom HEB 10 talks about. However, we will sin, so we repent of that sin, move forward, pray that the LORD delivers us from those sinful things that were in our life.
The earliest known fragments of the Book of Hebrews are in Papyrus #46, dating back to the late 100s or early 200s AD. So certainly, Paul could be the author.
HEB 10:26-27, If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left. But only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of GOD.
If one receives knowledge of what truth is, that is the truth of the Gospel and that is Yeshua, and then says no way, no thanks, then there is no other sacrifice for sins. That is, they have rejected the ONLY sacrifice for sin, Yeshua. So thus, they have kept on sinning. Because the only sacrifice is Yeshua, and when one rejects Yeshua, there is no other sacrifice.
The Greek word for go on sinning is the verb ἁμαρτάνω hamartanō = present active meaning they continue doing what they were doing and exactly in the same way. Thus they were not truly changed. The Greek adverb for willfully is ἑκουσίως hekousiōs = voluntarily, of one’s own doing as opposed to sins committed inconsiderately, and from ignorance.
