Rabbi Yaron Reuven teaches that bribery blinds wise people and skews their judgment. This is because bribery creates a sense of closeness between the briber and the recipient, leading the recipient to see the briber's perspective as their own and to ignore any wrongdoing.

The Talmud highlights that rabbis who are well-liked by their communities may be bribed through flattery, which prevents them from rebuking their congregants for their sins. True wisdom, however, seeks rebuke as a means to discover the truth, and only the wise will remain consistent in their support of those who rebuke them.
