Jesus or Barabbas

The custom at Passover was that the Roman governor was to release one prisoner to the people. So, Pontius Pilate asked the crowd who they wanted him to set free, Jesus or Barabbas, who was a murderer. They chose Barabbas, and so Jesus was sent to be crucified.

Jesus could have prevented His death as He is God. But He chose to suffer and die for us. Crucifixion was the most painful method of execution in the history of humanity, but God decided at that exact time to send His Son to walk the earth. All the prophecies in the Old Testament point to Jesus, including the way He would die.

The most important choice we will ever have is how we respond to Jesus.

Who do you choose?

“And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? Keep watching and praying, so that you will not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Mark 14: 37-38

“But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.”

Luke 23:34

“But He was pierced for our offenses,
He was crushed for our wrongdoings;
The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him,
And by His wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.”

John 3: 16-17

“You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am. So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example, so that you also would do just as I did for you.”

John 13: 13-15

“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.”

John 15: 12-13

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

God bless you.
