PM Modi, US Vice President JD Vance Discuss Bilateral Ties, Note Progress in Trade Deal Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Monday at his official residence in New Delhi, where both leaders expressed satisfaction over the progress made in strengthening India-U.S. cooperation across multiple sectors.

JD Vance, who began a four-day visit to India, was accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their children as they met with the Prime Minister at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The family was warmly received by PM Modi.

During the conversation, PM Modi fondly reflected on his recent visit to Washington, D.C., in February and his productive talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. Those discussions helped chart a course for deepening strategic ties between the two nations, according to an official statement.

Both leaders welcomed the advancements in the ongoing negotiations for a comprehensive and mutually advantageous India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement, emphasizing its importance for the well-being of their citizens. They also acknowledged collaborative efforts in areas such as energy, defense, and emerging technologies.

The talks also included an exchange of perspectives on regional and global developments of common concern, with both leaders underscoring the value of dialogue and diplomacy.

Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to Vice President Vance and his family for a meaningful visit and conveyed his regards to President Trump, expressing anticipation for his upcoming trip to India later this year.

PM Modi’s warm reception of the Vance family included a heartfelt greeting to JD Vance, Usha Vance, and their children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—as he personally welcomed them to his residence.

J.D. Vance Visits Akshardham Temple During India Tour

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha, who is of Indian descent, and their three children, commenced their visit to India on Monday with a stop at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, located along the Yamuna River.

The family’s arrival drew attention, particularly the children who were dressed in traditional Indian clothing. Eight-year-old Ewan and five-year-old Vivek sported yellow and grey kurtas paired with white pyjamas, while three-year-old Mirabel wore a teal anarkali suit with a coordinating jacket.

Expressing gratitude in the temple’s guest book, Vance wrote, “Thank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness in welcoming me and my family to this beautiful place. It is a great credit to India that you built a beautiful temple with precision and care. Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless.”

Following their visit, the Vance family posed for photos outside the temple. They were welcomed with traditional ceremonies before participating in darshan. During their time at the temple, they explored its stunning architecture and artistic elements, gaining insight into India’s deep spiritual and cultural traditions.

According to an official statement, the family admired the temple’s intricate craftsmanship and appreciated its focus on timeless values such as harmony, family, and spiritual wisdom.
