Russian warships are currently docked in Bangladesh. They arrived at the Chittagong port to take part in what is called as a “goodwill” visit. This comes just a week after Bangladesh’s Army Chief visited Moscow where he discusses bilateral defence ties. Meanwhile, there are reports that Russia wants an airbase in Indonesia. This is in Biak where Russia wants to deploy long-range strategic bombers. Indonesia has dismissed the reports, while Australia is calling for a clarification. And these reports come with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin which is scheduled for June.
