FORGIVENESS AND MERCY WITH BOUNDARIES

I'm going to be honest here my friends and tell you that every time I read a passage about forgiveness, I get a little apprehensive and perturbed. I'm this way, because I have heard so many sermons and Bible studies on forgiveness it's not funny, and many of them are far from biblical. However, as I read God's word on this issue, He has shown me just what real forgiveness is, and I try to live it out. It’s why I believe as Eliza Morgan, this morning's devotional writer stated so very well, that when it comes to forgiveness, “We’re to forgive others the way God Forgives us. Over and over, on and on” but I want to take it a little further. I think that we need to consider the forgiveness that God gave us, that we don't deserve, and be willing to show forgiveness to others, because we're forgiven too.

Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things that I have been learning on this issue out of God's word, through this vlog I'd like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that what I share with you, will not only challenge you, but get you to thinking about what forgiveness really means, and how you can truly forgive “To Infinity and beyond!”, while still having boundaries. So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with these questions from this morning's devotional, and I pray that they will not only challenge your heart, but encourage you to seek and know what forgiveness truly is.

Who longs for your forgiveness?

What does it mean to forgive another in a way that honors them and God?

I want to offer this hope for anyone out there who has been wounded, hurt, and betrayed, whether it's by a parent, sibling, spouse, or anybody else that you were taught to trust. I especially reach out to anyone that was sexually violated as a child, and/or violated by a so-called man of God, know that you are not at fault, and that what was done to you was wrong! Don't be afraid to not only set healthy and effective boundaries against the one that has wronged you, but also to seek real justice, even if it means that others shun you for holding the criminal accountable for their actions. Remember too that forgiveness is not based on any type of ‘forgetfulness’, or the minimalization of another person's pain, but on the willingness to expose the truth of what happened, so that person can truly heal. Above all I pray that you will look to the One who suffered the ultimate in humiliation, shame, and agony, to set you free from sin, and that you hand the hurt of your past over to Him!
