Zoom Interview with Ken Luff: Why Deals with Enemies Won’t Save Israel

In a world where diplomacy often masquerades as peace, Israel continues to face mounting pressure to negotiate with those who seek her destruction. Politically, global leaders and international bodies push for peace accords, land-for-peace deals, and normalization agreements, believing that appeasement and compromise will bring lasting stability. But history and reality suggest otherwise—Israel's enemies remain ideologically committed to her eradication, not coexistence. Such deals reflect a misplaced trust in man rather than God. Scripture repeatedly warns against trusting in foreign alliances or compromising with hostile nations. Jeremiah 17:5 declares, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength,” a principle that echoes through Israel's national history. Israel’s covenantal identity is not negotiable. The land was given to Abraham and his descendants by divine decree (Genesis 15:18–21), and no human agreement can nullify God’s promises. When ancient Israel made alliances with pagan nations, it consistently led to judgment, not deliverance (Isaiah 30:1–3; Hosea 7:11–13). These political maneuvers are foreshadowing the ultimate false peace prophesied in Daniel 9:27, where a future world leader—Antichrist—will broker a deceptive covenant with Israel, temporarily offering peace but ultimately bringing devastation. As 1 Thessalonians 5:3 (NKJV) warns: “For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them.” True security for Israel will not come from diplomatic deals but from the return of the Messiah, who will defeat Israel’s enemies and establish a righteous kingdom (Zechariah 14; Revelation 19). Until then, trusting in treaties instead of the Lord will only lead to disillusionment and danger.
