THE CURRENTS OF SPACE – ISAAC ASIMOV

He's stranded on a slave world, Florinia, where the dominant power, the Squires of Sark, exploit a unique resource, the "sark," which is akin to cotton. As Rik's memory returns, he discovers that the Squires are manipulating the situation, and that a major astronomical catastrophe is looming. The story follows Rik's struggle to recall his past and warn the world about the impending doom. He is aided by a sympathetic native leader and a scientist on Florinia, while being constantly thwarted by the Squires and their own agendas. The narrative explores themes of social inequality, political manipulation, and the clash between different cultural and economic systems.
