These are called dead hangs. They benefit shoulder health by strengthening stabilizing muscles, improving mobility, and decompressing the shoulder (and vertebral) joints. For the back, they enhance spinal decompression and strengthen lats and posterior core muscles. Wrist health improves through increased grip strength and forearm muscle endurance, reducing strain on wrist joints. Regular practice can enhance overall upper body strength and joint stability. Start with longer and longer then when that's too easy, move to single arm. I've seen the results and experienced them myself. Give them a shot
