Boston Dynamics' Spot robot evolved from a research project into a commercially available quadruped platform known for its stability, mobility, and adaptability.

Introduced in 2015 as a smaller, quieter alternative to earlier robots like BigDog, Spot was designed for indoor and outdoor navigation, capable of walking on rough terrain and recovering from disturbances.

Over time, it gained autonomous navigation, payload integration, and real-time obstacle avoidance.

The commercial version, released in 2020, features a modular design, swappable payloads (like LIDAR, cameras, and robotic arms), and a control API, making it useful for inspection, mapping, security, and research across industries.
