Exposed Legal Battle in Washington State

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is aware of, and is opposed to, Senate Bill 5093 (SB5093). The bill, titled “An Act Relating to Dignity in Pregnancy Loss” does little to provide dignity or protection for children born-alive in any number of unfortunate circumstances and creates a longer shadow for criminals to hide infant deaths. The ACLJ does not find it appropriate for the law to create such a wide berth of permissive action that would render a newborn baby at the mercy of bad actors without legal protections.
