Gordon Chang: President Xi will take China ‘off the cliff’ before yielding in tariff talks with US

“Plan Red” Author Gordon Chang says the only way China wins the tariff war against the US is if they successfully pressure President Donald Trump to back down. “And Xi Jinping, because the way he has basically configured the Chinese political system, he’s perfectly capable of taking China off the cliff before he actually has substantive discussions with the U.S.. And that is just an indication of how bad things are in China,” he explains. “I think President Trump holds out and I think we win this."
