One summer day in 1978, a man came home from work to his house in a nice neighborhood in Illinois. He went inside the front door and called out to his wife, but she didn't call back. The man looked around the house and was annoyed that it was so dirty. His wife had said she was going to spend the day cleaning, and it seemed like she had not. But after searching the house, he had not found his wife yet, and so he stared to wonder if she was okay. The only place left to check for her was in the basement, so he opened the door and began walking down the stairs. When he got down there, he would come face-to-face with a nightmare.
