The Trap (Movie Great Quality) 1946

The Trap is a 1946 American mystery crime film directed by Howard Bretherton and starring Sidney Toler and Victor Sen Yung. This was Toler's 22nd and final appearance as Chan, and his final performance of any kind.

When a troupe of showgirls with their impresario and press agent vacation at a Malibu Beach resort, two of them are garrotted. Charlie takes on the case assisted by his son Jimmy and faithful chauffeur Birmingham Brown.

Charlie Chan is a fictional Honolulu police detective created by author Earl Derr Biggers for a series of mystery novels. Biggers loosely based Chan on Hawaiian detective Chang Apana. The benevolent and heroic Chan was conceived as an alternative to Yellow Peril stereotypes and villains like Fu Manchu. Many stories feature Chan traveling the world beyond Hawaii as he investigates mysteries and solves crimes.

The Charlie Chan film series consists of 49 films, spanning from 1926 to 1948, with a few notable exceptions. The series features the detective Charlie Chan, often portrayed by Warner Oland and later Sidney Toler and Roland Winters, solving mysteries in various locations.
