During his official four-day visit to India, U.S. Vice President JD Vance aimed to strengthen bilateral relations in key areas such as trade, defense, and energy. Accompanied by his Indian-American wife, Usha Vance, and their children, Vance was welcomed with honors in New Delhi and held meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the talks, both leaders highlighted progress in trade negotiations, with the goal of reaching an agreement that would avoid the imposition of new U.S. tariffs. Vance promoted the purchase of American defense equipment, including F-35 fighter jets, and advocated for ethanol imports to enhance India’s energy security. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two nations to counter regional threats in the Indo-Pacific, without directly mentioning China.

The visit also included cultural and personal elements, with tours of iconic sites such as the Amber Fort in Jaipur and the Akshardham Temple in Delhi. Vance expressed solidarity with India following a terrorist attack in Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, reaffirming the United States' commitment to combating terrorism.

This trip marks the first visit by a U.S. vice president to India in 12 years and is part of efforts to solidify a strategic alliance between the two democracies, especially amid trade tensions and geopolitical challenges.
