Mystery Beast Crosses the Road!

This creature, native to South America, primarily inhabits the grasslands and scrub forests of Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. Scientifically known as Chrysocyon brachyurus, the maned wolf is the largest canid in the region, standing up to three feet at the shoulder and weighing between 50 and 70 pounds. It has a striking appearance with long, slender legs, reddish-brown fur, and a distinctive black mane along its neck and shoulders. Unlike true wolves, it is a solitary animal, only pairing during the breeding season, and sustains itself on an omnivorous diet of fruits, vegetables, and small animals like rodents and birds. Its long legs are adapted for navigating tall grasses, allowing it to spot predators or prey from a distance, and it communicates through vocalizations, such as a loud bark-roar, and scent marking with strong-smelling urine.
