In 1939, the Gleiwitz Incident became Hitler's pretext to invade Poland.

German operatives, disguised as Polish soldiers,

attacked a radio station in Gleiwitz, Germany, now Gliwice, Poland.

This staged attack, orchestrated by Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich,

broadcast anti-German rhetoric in Polish.

It justified Operation Fall Weiss, the invasion of Poland on September 1st, 1939, marking the beginning of World War II.

The Reichstag Fire in 1933 was pivotal for the Nazi rise to power.

A Dutch communist, Marinus van der Lubbe,

was blamed for setting the German Parliament ablaze.

However, many historians suspect Nazi orchestration,

particularly by Hermann Göring.

This event led to the Reichstag Fire Decree, suspending civil liberties and enabling Hitler to arrest political opponents, crush dissent, and consolidate dictatorial powers in Germany.

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914 sparked World War I.

Serbian nationalists, including Gavrilo Princip,

killed the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne in Sarajevo.

The extent of Serbia's involvement remains debated,

but Austria-Hungary used it as a pretext for war.

This event escalated into a global conflict, drawing in Germany, Russia, France, and Britain.
