Less than a century ago, people in the United Kingdom didn't have to worry about paying for electricity, gas, or water like they do today. 🌊 Water - Managed by local councils, water was freely available or came at a minimal cost to ensure public health and sanitation. Privatisation in 1989 changed this, leading to household water bills.

🔥 Gas - Originally supplied by municipal gas works, gas services were nationalised in 1949, ensuring affordability. This changed in 1986 when British Gas was privatised, leading to deregulated pricing.

⚡ Electricity - Nationalised in 1947, the electricity sector ensured stable and regulated costs for consumers. Privatisation in the 1990s led to market-driven pricing, resulting in higher costs for many households.
