On January 1st 1997, Boulder Police detectives Steve Thomas, Ron Gosage, Tom Trujllo, Jane Harmer, and their sergeant Larry Mason were on their way to Atlanta. It had been seven days since JonBenet Ramsey was found deceased in the basement of a sprawling, labyrinthian home in one of the city’s nicer neighborhoods, and the police had very little to go on even after a full week of ceaseless investigation. Though they were firing on all cylinders, interviewing neighbors, friends, employees, and even potential suspects, one very big question loomed over the whole case: who were John and Patsy Ramsey, and what did they actually know about the night in question? Despite multiple attempts to secure an interview with the grieving parents, something always came up to prevent that step from being taken. First the Ramseys were too shaken up, then Patsy was too medicated, and not long after that they left town to bury JonBenet in the same plot as her older sister. For that reason, it came as something of a surprise when John and Patsy appeared on CNN that New Year's Day.
