A conversation with Secretary of Commerce, Matt Herridge of WV

Representative Matthew Herridge is a prominent West Virginia businessman and political figure, currently serving as the Secretary of Commerce for West Virginia since January 16, 2025. A lifelong resident of the state, Herridge is a co-owner of several Qdoba Mexican Eats restaurants in Athens, Marietta, and Vienna, and previously managed a portfolio of Burger King franchises through his company, Charton Management, until their sale in May 2023. Transitioning from a decade-long career in clinical psychology at the Charleston Area Medical Center and as clinical faculty at the WVU School of Medicine, he entered the business world in 2005, growing both a family restaurant portfolio and a software development company focused on restaurant industry solutions.

Herridge is also deeply engaged in politics, having been elected chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party in January 2024. His political involvement includes serving as the finance chairman of the state GOP and chairing the Government Relations Committee of the National Franchise Association, where he honed skills in fundraising and consensus-building. Appointed by Governor Patrick Morrisey, Herridge’s role as Secretary of Commerce reflects his business acumen and commitment to economic development in West Virginia.

KC Crosbie graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, beginning her career in corporate America. In 2013, she founded a Kentucky company specializing in the distribution and sales of medical and therapeutic products, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit.

A respected figure in Lexington’s non-partisan City Council, Crosbie earned endorsements from firefighters, police officers, and government employees, known for her ability to collaborate across political divides. With the backing of President Donald Trump, she was elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee, serving alongside re-elected RNC Chair Michael Whatley.
