Mike Adams & Jeffrey Prather: Trump's Tariffs & Discussing China's Economic Warfare and Its Future Implications (4-26-2025)

(Both Mike & Jeffrey touch on a lot of issues that we should be aware of & pay attention to as we navigate the many changes coming our way. Although I don't necessarily agree with all of their observations, allow me to elaborate on some of their observations. Both Mike & Jeffrey are very knowledgeable in their areas & have been studying the world situation for many years.

Yes, China has become a manufacturing powerhouse for the world & this bothers Trump & many others. But don't forget that our own government let many manufacturing segments critical to our national security be outsourced to China & other countries. Lower costs was always one of the reasons, but this can become very expensive when others are no longer as friendly & critical products become restricted.

Mike suggested that we just stop buying certain things from China as one solution, which is exactly what Trump's high tariffs will accomplish. But what happens when we really need those products & there are aren't adequate alternatives at reasonable prices?

To bring manufacturing back to the US can take years & depend upon raw materials that are not readily available. To make matters worse, Mike correctly points out that in many of these areas we have already lost the manufacturing expertise. Our education system has fallen behind & China graduates 4-5 times more highly qualified STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) graduates per year than the US. Our cost of living & wages are high when compared to many developing countries. Many of these constraints would result in a lot of products costing much more if their manufacturing was brought back to the US.

I'm not implying that we should throw up our hands & declare defeat. On the other hand, the US should honestly identify which segments we have the resources & capabilities to add value, become cost competitive, and produce products that others in the world & here want to purchase. This is what anyone wanting to build a new successful company in the US would need to do. Why shouldn't the US do likewise? We should become proactive to build the infrastructure, talent, and streamline government regulations to support becoming successful in these segments.

In 2023 the US had 750 military bases in 80 countries, most of which are no longer needed, except for the military-industrial complex. That is very expensive! Wouldn't it make more sense to redirect those expenses to rebuild our infrastructure, economy, quality of living, and strive to get along better with others in the world? — RAD)
