Are Tariffs Really Trade Equalizers, or just more government revenue at taxpayers expense?

Will tariffs put on China and other countries level the trade playing field so the U.S. can sell our products fairly over there? There's something to be said when our USA made products are so heavily tariffed by other countries we have no market there to sell our goods there. China, for example has been unfairly getting away with economic murder with cheap-ass and cheap quality goods to sell here, and we suck it up and buy all their cheap crap. Then we wonder why factories have closed, jobs have been lost and the middle class is disappearing. Like Trump or not, he's at least trying to do something to bring back jobs here. We can make products affordable here and still pay workers a fair wage.

If you complain about you weight and never do anything about it, nothing will change, so let's see if this will work, and these other countries especially China, play ball. Seems like many countries are caving, as they should, and dropping the tariffs down so our companies here can compete in their country as well. We would love NO tariffs, but at least maybe 10% to import in products would be more fair both ways. You pay a little more for a premium, or foreign product, but not so much no one would ever buy it.

We hope it works, and in some cases it seems to. It may hurt in the short term, but long term, the long-game, we hope it works out, of course!
