During the Civil War, Confederate scout Sgt. Joseph Paradine discovers a deserted town frozen in time, with Union soldiers paralyzed in place. An old man reveals that witchcraft is behind the spell—and offers Paradine a way to use it to win the war. But the price of victory forces Paradine to confront his deepest moral beliefs.
