Gospel author John said that the Jews do not associate with the Samaritans. The Samaritans were the product of mixed ethnicities from other places that the Neo-Assyrians conquered. They became worse with their idolatry when the foreigners were integrated with the locals. Eventually, they found their way back to the YaHWeH, established their own religion, and constructed a temple in Mount Gerizim (today's Nablus).

For the Lord Jesus, his mission was to bring them back to the fold of God and teach them to be true worshippers of God in the Spirit and in Truth.
