Trump urges crowd to vote out GOP ‘grandstanders’
Donald Trump: What the world has witnessed in the past 14 weeks is a revolution of common sense. That’s all it is, really. We’re conservatives. You’re conservative, you’re liberal, whatever. You know what this is all about. It’s about common sense, if you think about it. We stand for common sense.
We like strong borders. We like good education. We like low interest rates. We like being able to buy a beautiful car and now deduct the interest on the loan. That had never happened before.
We want a strong military. We want low taxes. You know, the Democrats campaign saying, “We’re going to raise your taxes.” It’s the first time... I haven’t been doing this for that long, actually, compared to a lot of people. They’ve been doing it for a long time. They say, “You became president. I can’t get out of Congress.” Or some of them can’t even get into Congress. But, you know...
I haven’t been doing it that long, but I’ve been watching all my life. And I’ve never heard people campaign saying they’re going to raise taxes. It was always, “We’re going to lower your taxes,” whether Democrat or Republican. Now they say, “We’re going to raise your taxes.”
If our bill doesn’t pass… Republicans support it almost 100%. But it would be nice to have just a couple of Democrats, just to be sure, because, you know, every now and then we get a showboating Republican. We’ve got some showboaters, but only occasionally, not many, not many. But remember who those showboaters were and vote them the hell out of office. Okay? Will you do that?
Vote them out of office. They do it on moral grounds. They’re morally bound. You know what the answer is? If you don’t get it, you’re going to end up with the biggest tax hike in history, instead of the greatest tax cut in history, if the Democrats prevail with this bill. You’ll get a 58% tax increase. Would you like that?
President Donald Trump celebrated the first 100 days of his second term at a campaign-style rally in Michigan, where he touted the last 14 weeks as a “revolution of common sense.” Trump named some of his “common sense” priorities such as strong borders, a strong military and low taxes.
Teasing a future tax cut bill, Trump said he had about 100% Republican support but that he’d like to have a few Democrats support it as well, in case someone in the president's party ended up voting against it.
“We have some grandstanders. But every once in a while– not many, not many. But remember who those grandstanders were and vote them the hell out of office, OK? Will you do that? Vote ‘em out of office,” he said.
