On September 4, 2024, Millburn Police Officers responded to the Short Hills Mall after receiving a shoplifting call. Officers received a clothing description of the suspect as they arrived at the mall. Officer Dalakian located the 35-year-old suspect and detained her. Meanwhile, Officer Nakashia talked to store personnel who indicated the woman concealed stolen merchandise inside her skirt. The woman was taken to a semi-private corridor, where she proceeded to remove dozens of stolen undergarments and lingerie from Victoria's Secret and leggings from Alo Yoga. The total value of the merchandise was $1,161.55. It was also determined that the woman had an outstanding arrest warrant out of East Brunswick, New Jersey. She was transported to the Millburn Police Station, where she was charged with Shoplifting. Because of the outstanding warrant, she was then turned over to the East Brunswick Police Department. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
