Alexander the Great had nothing to do with the Catholic Church—he died 300 years before Jesus was even born. To say he started a church in Rome is pure idiocy. He was a pagan conqueror, not a Christian, and he never even set foot in Rome. The truth is, the early Church was started by Jesus Christ Himself, and the apostles—especially Peter—carried it forward. Christ declared, “On this rock I will build my Church” (Matthew 16:18), not on a dead Greek king. The early Christians were hunted and murdered by the Roman Empire—not joined with it. They were thrown to lions, not handed Roman passports. Saying people had to join the Church to be Roman citizens is total fiction—Romans persecuted Christians, not rewarded them.
