Psalm 23: a Fresh Look at an Old Favourite

Psalm 23. Arguably the most well known passage in the entire Bible there is no doubt that the 23rd Psalm, composed by King David, is the most beloved of all the songs in Scripture. And, for good reason.

In this message, Chad takes a 'fresh look' at this old favourite by reviewing Psalm 23 in the structure of a chiasm. He then considers the potential inspiration of the poem's content by reviewing occasions in David's life where he found himself in valleys of death, struggle and challenge.

Which incident inspired David to write Psalm 23? Or, is it possible this poem is best seen, not as a pastoral psalm, but as a prophetic/messianic psalm?

What we know for sure is that this psalm, together with many other Scriptures, assures us that Yahweh truly is the Great Shepherd ... one that is committed to being our Ever-Present Guide: beside us, before us, and behind us!

This message was delivered at LifeHouse Church, Coffs Harbour Australia, in August 2024.
