LoC tensions escalate Pakistani soldiers abandon posts, remove flags - Indian Army’s retaliation
LoC Tensions Surge: Pakistani Troops Vacate Posts, Remove Flags After Indian Army's Forceful Response
Tensions have intensified along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, following a strong and targeted retaliation by the Indian Army in response to repeated ceasefire breaches by Pakistan. In the aftermath of the countermeasures, several Pakistani forward posts were reportedly vacated, and national flags removed—an apparent sign of tactical withdrawal and internal unease.
According to sources, the Indian military’s retaliation came after sustained unprovoked firing from across the LoC and the International Border. Indian forces responded with precision strikes across multiple sectors, including Naushera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Baramulla, and Kupwara, causing considerable pressure on Pakistani positions.
Reports suggest that Pakistani soldiers withdrew from several of their forward locations, and Pakistan Rangers took down flags from observation posts—an uncommon action interpreted as a sign of diminishing morale and strategic pullback.
Heavy Fire Exchange at Multiple LoC Points
On Tuesday, intense cross-border firing was reported from nearly 20 forward locations along the LoC. Pakistani forces targeted Indian positions, but encountered a strong and sustained counter-assault. A senior Indian defence official noted that the response was measured yet impactful, underscoring India's stance that ceasefire violations will be met with firm retaliation.
Pakistan Imposes Temporary No-Fly Zone Over Major Cities
In a related development, Pakistan has issued a temporary Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), establishing a No-Fly Zone over key cities like Islamabad and Lahore until May 2. This decision, reportedly stemming from concerns over a potential Indian aerial response, restricts all civilian and military air traffic over these urban centers.
Strategic Outlook
Defence analysts interpret Pakistan’s NOTAM declaration as a precautionary move reflecting heightened military alertness. The situation along the LoC remains tense, with both Indian and Pakistani forces maintaining elevated levels of readiness.
While India has limited its actions to retaliatory strikes, officials have emphasized that continued provocations will be met with decisive responses. Security agencies remain vigilant and are closely tracking any further developments along the border.
