BREAKING: International Firefighting Planes Battle Massive Wildfires Near Jerusalem

On April 30, 2025, devastating wildfires broke out in the hills surrounding Jerusalem, leading Israel to declare a national emergency. The fires forced the evacuation of multiple communities, closure of major highways, and cancellation of national ceremonies. In response, several countries, including Italy, Croatia, Spain, France, Ukraine, and Romania, dispatched firefighting aircraft to assist in battling the blazes. As of May 1, the fires have consumed over 12,000 dunams (approximately 3,000 acres) of land.
