State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce on Thursday learned from reporters about President Trump’s decision to remove Mike Waltz as national security adviser and nominate him to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations while naming Secretary of State Marco Rubio as his acting national security adviser.

“Well, there you go … it is clear that I just heard this from you,” she said after a reporter read the president’s Truth Social post. “That is the miracle of technology and social media.”

The move makes Secretary Rubio the first secretary of State to simultaneously serve as national security adviser since Henry Kissinger held both titles under the Nixon and Ford administrations.

“If anybody can do this, certainly the secretary, as I’ve gotten to know him, it would be Marco Rubio,” she said.
