2025 Tenno Sho Spring Preview

Lew Dub of Staying The Distance previews the 2025 Tenno Sho Spring horse race. The Tenno Sho Spring is Japan’s premier 2 mile race, also known to English speakers as the Emperor’s Cup Spring.

Over the history of the race - dating back as far as 1938 - many of Japan’s equine heroes have won the race. Many of the greats have marked their name in history by becoming two-time winners. They include: Kitasan Black, Fenomeno, T M Opera O, Fierement & Mejiro McQueen to name a few.

This year the field is brimming with 4 year old talents and a returning champion. There’s Redentor, Sunrise Earth, Byzantine Dream, Shonan La Punta, Hayatenofukunosuke and 2023 winner Justin Palace.

Lew Dub previews all 15 runners in number order getting you ahead of the bookies and the other punters.
