This Is Paradise!

Paradise was created for us by our God in the Garden Of Eden, but then it was lost because our human condition rose up, and sin destroyed the paradise God created for us. God lost the paradise He created for us, and we lost it and ended up in a broken world of sinful people, with an imperfect human condition, a world where people hurt people. This is not paradise!

So we try to create our own paradise and it just ends up with disappointment and dashed emotions. We can’t create paradise in a broken world. God understands our desire for paradise, that is why He sent Jesus to us, to make a way for our future life to be in His Kingdom, paradise! When we seek paradise in this world, we end up disillusioned, but when we seek God’s Kingdom, we find that this is paradise!

Sometimes I create my own paradise, my escape from the reality of truth. Golf! I love to golf, and I love a day where it is beautiful, sunny and a light breeze and I have a golf club in my hand and I am creating my own paradise. Even golf has its moments of paradise where every shot is good, where on the water hole, you drive over the water and don’t hear the kurplunk sound of your lost golf ball. But then golf, it has those days where paradise is lost, your driver doesn’t work, because you are not working it well, you two putt and you shank the golf ball and lose it in the woods. Paradise lost.

Golf and life are the same. We can’t create our own paradise, everything doesn’t always work out as you plan. Believe me, my yard butts up to a golf tea on a golf course and I see golfers come and go, some make beautiful shots and others really screw up and the ball piddles into my yard and I just smile as they come and pick it up, because I know that golf, like life isn’t always paradise, and there are those days where paradise is lost to you.

Do you try to create paradise, try to control a perfect environment for your life? Paradise, it was lost because of our human condition. Yet, we continue to strive to recreate what was lost. Sometimes we grieve over the loss of paradise we tried to create for our life and we can get stuck in that soul sorrow. Life happens. Your club hits the ground before it hits the golf ball and a divot is created, and a par becomes out of reach. Paradise is not possible on this earth, because of the human condition, and the enemy of our soul, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy our paradise. We try in our own strength to recreate paradise, to cover over the loss and grief we feel because of the imperfections of humanity. But, we can never create the Paradise God wanted for us before sin came on the scene.

Simply-significantly we were created to have a relationship with our God and this is paradise. Many times things are stolen from us here on this earth, and we grieve our loss, but we do not grieve alone. When we turn to God and we lament with Him over the paradise we can’t re-create, over the things and people we have lost, when we get in God’s Presence, this is when we realize, here is paradise, here, with God it is perfect paradise with the amazing future and hope He has gifted us with. Then the missed putt for par doesn’t steal our joy for the golf game, we shake it off and go to the next hole. There is always opportunity with God because He forgives and forgets and we always have a new day.

God takes our grief over the things we have lost, over our disappointment of a paradise we can’t create, and He comforts us in miraculous ways, that no one else could ever do. People never understand your grief, they just want you to get over it. God understands it, He grows us through it. Jesus, He is our paradise, He is Who we need, and in our relationship, our personal connection with our God, this is paradise, and it is never a lost paradise, and can not be stolen from us.

Golf is a great game. I love it. I am not a perfect golfer, but that doesn’t make me want to quit golfing. This world is not perfect, we can’t create paradise here, but with God, we are perfectly loved in our imperfect state of being, in this imperfect world. I will never quit on God, no matter how imperfect I feel, or how imperfect I feel my life is, He is perfect, He is my paradise, and I am never lost to Him. I may be imperfect, but I am perfectly loved by God, and this is paradise to me.
