The dark history of Shri Thanedar

"Do you know that congressman who's trying to impeach President Trump? That same guy left 118 beagles in a lab to starve. And it wasn't just the beagles—there were also 55 monkeys. They were locked in cages in an abandoned building and left to die in a pharmaceutical testing company he ran, which went bankrupt.

If it hadn’t been for horrified caretakers who broke into the facility to rescue the animals, they literally would have been left there to starve. The poor animals were only there in the first place because they were being used for brutal animal experiments. The Daily Mail reported on it and called it “unspeakable acts against animals.”

I want to know how someone like that can even become an elected official. And why is it that these kinds of people are drawn to the Democratic Party like moths to a flame? First it was Fauci. Now it's this guy. Stop abusing beagles."

In 2010, Shri Thanedar, current Democratic congressman from Michigan, faced accusations of animal neglect following the bankruptcy of his pharmaceutical company, AniClin Preclinical Services. Reports indicated that over 170 animals, including 118 beagles and 55 monkeys, were abandoned at the company's New Jersey facility. Concerned lab workers entered the building to provide food and water to the animals. Eventually, animal welfare groups rescued and relocated the animals to new homes and sanctuaries.

Thanedar claimed that after the bankruptcy of his parent company, Azopharma, control of the facility was transferred to Bank of America, and that he no longer had authority over the lab or the animals.

These accusations resurfaced in 2025 when Thanedar introduced articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. Critics, including Republican Senator Aric Nesbitt, questioned his credibility and accused him of moral hypocrisy.

Thanedar also faces criticism over a campaign debt of approximately $730,000, which has intensified scrutiny of his financial and ethical record.

Despite the criticism, Thanedar has defended his actions, arguing that the accusations are part of a smear campaign against him.
