Did David hit Goliath in the forehead or shin?

In one of the Bible’s more famous accounts, it says that David brought down the Philistine giant, Goliath, after hitting him on the forehead with his sling. However, the Hebrew word for forehead can also be translated as shin. Looking at the text we examine which translation makes more sense, shin or forehead.
