The End-Times Versus the Last Days

Types and shadows are just one of the tools God uses to speak to us in His Word. The thrust of the message in these chapters in Genesis is not the types and shadows, but the Anti-type that those types and shadows point to. Joseph being exalted and then being restored with his brethren who had rejected him points to… Christ being rejected by His brethren (the Jews) and His being crucified, being raised up to heavenly places, and being restored with His brethren in the Last Days, after a time of great ‘famine’/Tribulation. Our goal is to be strengthened in our inner man (to receive spiritual wisdom and understanding in the knowledge of God {knowing Him}, rooted and grounded in love) as we speak of the types and shadows discussed in these chapters. The ‘End-Times’ and the ‘Last Days’ unto the ‘end of this age’ climaxes with the consumption (destruction) decreed in the Promised Land before the Restoration of Israel. (Isaiah 10:23… “For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption {will carry out the destruction decreed}, even determined, in the midst of all the land.”)

Let us refer to the ‘End-Times’ as being those days Christ called “the beginning of sorrows” or ‘birth-pangs’ (described in Matthew 24:1-14) that lead up to the ‘Last Days’… which we will refer to as those Scripturally specific last 7 years before Christ appears again on the Earth defined in the Book of Revelation between Chapters 4 and 19. That 7-year countdown will begin with the 7-year league/covenant between blinded Israel and the Anti-Christ which will end with the Second Coming of Christ. (Isaiah 28:15… “Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell (with the Anti-Christ who arises out of the pit in Hades) are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge (the lies promising peace spoken by the Anti-Christ who has supernatural skill to manipulate), and under falsehood have we hid ourselves…” Daniel 9:27… “And he (the Anti-Christ) shall confirm the covenant (the covenant with Israel) with many for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week (at the 3½ year mark) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (the re-instituted sacrifices on some kind of future altar will be stopped), and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it (Israel) desolate (2/3 of Israel being massacred or driven out), even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”) … the result of which, half way through that covenant, leads to the events of Matthew 24:15-51. See all of Matthew 24 below, keeping in mind that Verses 1-14 refer to the “End-Times” or “beginning of sorrows” and Verses 15-51 refer to the “Last Days” or last 7 years before Christ appears on the Earth. (Note that the beginning of sorrows is also referred to as “birth pangs.” As with labor, as time progresses, the pangs become increasingly more intense and they become closer together as it grows closer to the Last Days’ climax.)

Verses 1-14…
1 “And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (end of the ‘age’)
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (ethnic group against ethnic group): and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows (birth pangs in many translations).
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. (This has happened, is happening, and will happen.)
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.....
