Genesis 44, ep 84
Hi, I’m Sal Lopez Executive Director of Ozark Hunger Relief, I am doing this to hopefully find some sponsors (tax deductible donations) for an office in Prairie Grove, Ar. I have seen and fed many children who wander around here. I thought if I started a non-profit, the community would be happy to help. Nope! I’ve had nothing but suspicion, derision, denial, and was ripped off for everything I had, by another food pantry. They offered to help, then when I delivered everything, I had, then they told me to stay away from them, but subsequently asked me for more donations. It has been horribly depressing, but I will persevere and get this office open.
My vision is to be a community resource center, but the main goal is to feed hungry kids, whose parents are drug addicts, and/or alcoholics. I guess some are just poor. Anyway, I need help and will advertise for you, and have signs of acknowledgement for every donor, proportionate for the donation.
Anyway, this episode is Genesis 44 The Power And Grace of Forgiveness: My friends, today I want to take you back to the pages of God’s holy, inerrant Word—the Bible, the truth that never fails us. Turn with me to Genesis 44, where we see a story that echoes through the ages, a story of sin, sorrow, and the amazing grace of God. This is the account of Joseph, a man sold into slavery by his own brothers, now risen to power in Egypt, testing their hearts with a plan that could have ended in their destruction.
You see, Joseph’s brothers had sinned gravely, throwing him into a pit and selling him for silver, thinking they’d seen the last of him. But God had a plan! Years later, driven by famine, they stand before Joseph, unaware of his identity. In Genesis 44, Joseph orchestrates a test—his silver cup is hidden in Benjamin’s sack. When caught, the brothers face a choice: abandon Benjamin or face the consequences. Judah steps forward, offering himself in place of his brother, revealing a heart changed by God’s work.
Oh, my friends, don’t you see the parallel? Just as Joseph’s brothers were guilty, so are we all. Romans 3:23 declares, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” We’ve all betrayed, hurt, and fallen short. But here’s the good news—God’s grace shines through! Joseph forgives his brothers, weeping with love, a picture of Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us on the cross. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Today, I urge you—confess your sins to God. Ask forgiveness in Jesus’ name. Say, “Lord, I’m a sinner. Forgive me through Jesus.” If you do, you’ll find the same grace Joseph showed. Come to Christ now—tomorrow may be too late!
The Power of Prayer.
I pray The Lord’s Prayer every day. Jesus recommends that we pray this prayer. I believe God likes this prayer.
And Rev 4: 6-8 “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”
God has the four beast saying this repeatedly at his throne, So, I believe God likes this prayer.
The Power of Prayer: Drawing Near to God
The Prayer of Jabez is found in 1 Chronicles 4:10. Jabez, whose name means "pain," prays to God with a heartfelt request:
"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain."
This prayer is remarkable for its boldness and faith. Jabez asks for God's blessings, expansion of his influence, divine guidance, and protection from harm. The Bible notes that God granted his request, highlighting the power of sincere prayer and trust in God's will.
Prayer is one of the most powerful tools given to us. It is our direct line of communication with God, a means through which we express our gratitude, seek guidance, and intercede for others. Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of prayer throughout His ministry, setting an example for us to follow. Today, we will explore why prayer is essential, how we should pray, and the impact of a faithful prayer life.
