Inside SERCO’s 4 ⭐️ Migrant Retreat

In this exclusive, we take you inside one of SERCO’s most controversial operations — a luxury 4-star hotel in Warwick, currently housing over 300 undocumented male migrants.

Residents have 24/7 access to NHS medical specialists. Booking an appointment with a doctor, dentist, or mental health team is as simple as scanning a QR code. Meals are restaurant-quality, and the location is undeniably picturesque.

Recreational options are limited, however. For leisure, residents can sunbathe in the gardens, play poker, or enjoy a few rounds of Connect 4.

But the hotel is only the beginning.

Once their asylum applications progress, many of these men are moved into long-term housing within our communities through what’s known as the “moving on scheme.” This process is often managed by government-contracted companies like SERCO, Mears Group, and Clear Springs Ready Homes — who place migrants in privately rented accommodation across towns and cities.

And this is where it gets even more controversial.

Landlords are being offered lucrative contracts: SERCO guarantees 10% above market rent for up to seven years. All bills — including gas, electricity, water, and council tax — are covered. There are no letting fees, no safety inspections required, and full maintenance and repairs are handled by the contractor.

While the financial incentives are clear, the long-term social and economic impacts are prompting concern among local residents. A landlord recruitment meeting planned for May 7th, 2025, in Malvern Hills was cancelled after a wave of public backlash on social media.

SERCO’s expanding role in migrant housing — from hotel stays to permanent placements — continues to fuel national debate, particularly around accountability and community integration.
