Israel seeks to keep Syria 'weak' and 'fragmented', analyst says

Israel on Saturday said it has deployed forces to southern Syria after it pounded the country with fresh strikes late Friday. According to Dr. Nanar Hawach, Senior Analyst for Syria at the International Crisis Group, Israel has two main objectives in Syria. “One is to keep Syria weak, the second is to keep Syria fragmentated, the more fragmented Syria is, the more divided, the better for Israel,” he said.
