Dem Sen. Tina Smith: I Just Don’t Believe Elon Musk Has Really Left the W.H.

SHARPTON: “You’ve been a vocal critic of Elon Musk. This week, we learned Musk has apparently packed up and left the White House, although his DOGE commission will supposedly continue its efforts to slash government. Do you believe that Musk is really returning his focus back to his own businesses? And if so, how will he be remembered in Washington?
Smith: “You know, I just don’t believe that he’s really going to be gone, though he might be spending less time eating ice cream in the White House in the middle of the night. All of his DOGE bros are still sprinkled throughout the administration, doing who knows what. Just recently, we’ve been hearing again about how they are trying to get their hands on people’s personal, private Social Security data. This is just an outrage. Of course, at the end of the day, this has been a complete disaster for Americans. They claim to have saved money, but it turns out that they — their activities have actually spent — cost almost as much money as they claim to have saved. And in the meantime, the Social Security Department and the Veterans Affairs Department are unable to meet the needs of Americans. And that isn’t even touching on the corruption that we see with Elon Musk in the administration. So I don’t think this story is over. I think we have to be vigilant about tracking down the ways in which he is personally profiting from his role in the federal government at the — you know, with the free reign of Donald Trump.”
