Trump to implement 100% Tariff on Foreign Films

President Donald Trump announced on May 4, 2025, via Truth Social, that he is authorizing the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to impose a 100% tariff on all movies produced outside the U.S. He labeled foreign film production a "national security threat," claiming it undermines the American movie industry through incentives like tax breaks offered by other countries, which draw filmmakers away from Hollywood. Trump stated, “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death,” and emphasized a desire to bring film production back to the U.S., saying, “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”
