Happy Lies – An Interview

Religious deception is not really new; it was employed in the Garden of Eden and has been a useful tool to help those who are open to it to reimagine God. New Thought emerged in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries, and it is alive and well today. Phineas Quimby is thought of as the originator of New Thought, and he went on to influence others, including Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science. Others, such as Charles and Myrtle Fillmore (Unity School of Christianity) and Ernest Holmes (Religious Science and founder of United Centers for Spiritual Living), picked up the ideas. Quimby’s teachings are the foundations of the Word of Faith and New Apostolic movements through individuals like E.W. Kenyon and Kenneth Hagin.
